Introducing NEW HF DATA NUGGET: Into A Tree's World

We are SUPER EXCITED to announce the publication of Harvard Forest's second Data Nugget!!

Thanks to Quabbin Regional High School Teacher,  Elicia Andrews,  and Harvard Forest Ecologist, Neil Pederson, co-authors of this structured learning activity connecting tree ring data with climate change.  

 Window-into-a-trees-world DATA NUGGET

This is a Free lesson plan with a bunch of related teacher resources that has been vetted and formatted by the super talented Data Nuggets staff.

You will find 3 levels of a graphing activity for students, that was piloted by Elicia Andrews at the 9th grade level, along with a PowerPoint Presentation, Grading Rubric, and some related videos. This content is related to the research of Harvard Forest Ecologist, Neil Pederson and Jessie K. Pearl of the Univ. of Arizona, along with Laboratory Technician, Tessa Mandra. Elicia worked along side of Undergraduate students (REUs) from Neil's Tree Ring lab at Harvard Forest.

Clarisse Hart, Director of Education and Outreach, and Pamela Snow, Schoolyard Ecology Coordinator, supported Elicia with honing in on a focus, and providing feedback on educational goals and content along the way.

Elicia's work was supported by a Research Experience for Teachers (RET)  grant supplement provided by the National Science Foundation.
